Modified Files:
exec/load/sbbslist_html.js
Log Message:
Use var, not const, for the OS-prefix string in the BBS list stats loop
exec/CLAUDE.md is explicit that const is off-limits in Synchronet JS: it
does not exist in SpiderMonkey 1.8.5, and a top-level const causes redeclaration errors under SM128 as well. This one sat inside the
for(i in list) loop that builds the version/OS/network histograms, so
the web server logged
/var/www/html/sbbslist.ssjs line 356:
TypeError: redeclaration of const prefix, Request: /sbbslist.ssjs
and the public BBS list failed to render for that request. Two hits in data/error.log, the most recent on 2026-09-17.
const buys nothing here in any case, since neither engine block-scopes
it the way the placement inside the loop suggests.
Introduced in 06114c3b7e (reggae-27-sake, 2026-03-12). The remaining
const/let in this file are inside writeln() strings, emitted for the
browser to run rather than for SpiderMonkey, and are left alone.
Verified against the live page: HTTP 200, 1,963,616 bytes, the OS
histogram populated ("Linux":116, "Win32":74, "FreeBSD":3) from the
code path that was throwing, and no new error.log entries.
