Bay scallops are really nice little seafood gems. Less expensive than
sea scallops (yes, I love those but I don't love the price), they are
more affordable and IMHO just as tasty. There's something about the
sweet taste of scallops pan seared in butter that makes me smile. :)

canned green beans. We're thawing and cooking very old meat from the

Inquiring minds need to know which particular critters are they meant to
keep out. It is a toss up which bugs are the biggest problem here.
During the heat of summer the flies can be a PITA while the sun is up.
When it starts to get dark the mosquitoes become annoying. It used to be
worse when there was an apple orchard next door. There would be be ruts
from the tractors and they would trap water and be a perfect breeding
ground for mosquitoes. Now it is a lawn. Years ago I put in a gold
fish pond. It is the most attractive breeding ground for aspiring bog
mommies. There is nice calm water for them to lay their eggs. Then my
fish can feed on the eggs and the larvae. It is pretty effective.

In the spring we get lovebugs for a couple of weeks. Other than that, I seldom see flies and mosquitoes.

As for animals, none are a real bother. I see a rabbit in the yard and
once a possum.
